İktisat Nedir?
What is Economics? It constitutes the first part of Rosa Luxemburg's work called Einführung in die Nationalökonomie (Introduction to National Economy). In this work, Rosa Luxemburg makes a radical criticism of the official economics doctrine called "National Economics" taught at German universities. Introduction to National Economy consists of the lectures given by Rosa Luxemburg at the Berlin Party School, founded by the German Social Democratic Party in 1906, and compiled in eight chapters. Rosa Luxemburg later tried to turn these notes into a ten-chapter book in prison, and designed the chapters of her book as follows: I. What is Economics? II. Social Labor, III, IV, V. Economic History. VI. Commodity Production. VII. Wage Labor. VIII. Snow. IX. Crisis. X. Tendencies of Capitalist Development. When Luxemburg was murdered by soldiers in January 1919, her home was also raided and four chapters of the book (chapters 2, 5, 8 and 9) were lost. This translation was made from the English edition of Merlin Press. It was prepared for printing by Yılmaz Öner by comparing it with the German text in the Collected Works published by Dietz Verlag; Added footnotes to the German edition. "What is Economics?" It still maintains its importance for economics students today.
