Malatya Armenians: Geography-History-Ethnography
This first work translated into Turkish by Arşag Alboyacıyan, known for his monographs on the history of the regions where Armenians lived in Anatolia, deals with the history of Malatya and its surroundings from the earliest times to the beginning of the 20th century with admirable meticulousness. The great historian reveals the most in-depth story of the region possible, in the light of information provided by different disciplines such as geography, archaeology, culture, architecture, politics and folklore. The study contributes to the historiography of not only the Armenians, but also all the peoples and states that lived or ruled in Malatya and its surroundings, such as the Byzantines, Arabs, Turks, Kurds and Assyrians. The Turkish translation of this giant work, whose original Armenian edition in 1961 exceeded 1500 pages, was summarized in order to bring the most crucial parts of the subject to the attention of today's readers.
