Ethnographic Study of Alevi Bektashi Tradition
Ethnographic Study of the Alevi Bektashi Tradition Book Description
Alevi-Bektashis are an important reflection of ancient Turkish culture.
Although many studies have been conducted on traditional Alevism, it is also important to address the cultural structure and possible change of the community regarding modernization. With this necessity, in the anthropological field study, the cultural elements that some Alevi-Bektashis in the city made functional in their cem houses were touched upon and the community was tried to be interpreted from a holistic perspective. Even though individuals in the city are similar to each other, it is seen that they can differ from others when they act with a community, in a place, with a scope of belief. In this respect, it is possible to say that culture has unique characteristics like fingerprints.
It is possible. Just as I think that sometimes people are more memorable when they are silent, the starting point of this study is the silence of Alevi-Bektashis that has been going on since history.
In an effort to follow their traces from a local perspective, I tried to interpret them by listening to them in their own environment, in their own words, and writing them down in line with my observations.
