Alternative and Complementary Medicine in Cancer As a result of the developments in scientific medicine, the average human lifespan, which was 48 years in the early 1900s, has almost doubled today. Especially in recent years, a visible increase in the popularity of approaches outside of scientific medicine has been noticed. Complementary and Alternative Treatment These so-called approaches often lead to serious conceptual confusion.
