Çıkış Yolu
In this book, Öymen explains his observations and evaluations about the realities of the world and Turkey, based on his research and experiences. One of these facts is the use of external pressures as a foreign policy tool in international relations.
Nowadays, it is mostly preferred to influence the domestic and foreign policies of countries through direct intervention, as in Iraq, or through international organizations such as the IMF and the World Bank. The press, non-governmental organizations and academic circles are also being used for this purpose. The European Union is also used as a pressure element when necessary.
Öymen also includes examples of direct and indirect interventions by great powers for two centuries and the story of countries that were able to achieve national independence by resisting external pressures. It tells about the principles defended by Atatürk, who was looking for a way out after the foreign interventions that brought the Ottoman Empire to the point of extinction, and the struggle to make Turkey an independent, sovereign and modern country.
