Kara squatted on the ground, far from Saire.

“You can place Issi in your heart,” he said softly, his voice understanding, “Uca was a dark shadow beneath Issi. We all actually belong to Issi.”

He won't be silent, said Saire. He will not be silent. He got up and sat down. He was sick and tired of anger, resentment, hatred... everything. He reached for a piece of branch and started digging the soil. He spoke haltingly in a weary voice:

“You never learned what faith is, Kara Bey. You do not know. When the thing you believe in with all your heart, the thing that adds you to the crowds and to life, slips away from your hands, you don't understand what is really lost. You don't understand that if you give up on Uca, you will also give up on Issis.”
