Democracy Theories and Social Movements
This study tries to analyze the representation system of liberal democracy and the theories of democracy that were developed as a response to the crises created by people moving away from political participation. In addition, new social movements are involved, which each of these theories of democracy see as a field in which they can apply themselves. Because these movements, unlike the old class movements, are depicted as the realization areas of a democratic organization.
This study tries to bring a critical approach to the meanings given today to both theories of democracy and new social movements. For this reason, he argues that the proposal of the class movement is still ongoing, but if such a movement is to be successful, the creation of proletarian public spaces is essential.
Each of these discussions is very important in terms of the conditions Turkey is in now, the developing social movements and the potential of these groups to spread a democratic understanding.
