Dersim from a Soldier's Diary, 1938
Yusuf Kenan Akım started his military service on April 27, 1938 and came to Erzincan by train via Samsun, Amasya and Sivas. He writes that he took a photo with his friends by the Euphrates River on July 30, and begins to take notes of his experiences regarding Dersim 38.
Although this diary, which we published under the name "Dersim 1938 from a Soldier's Diary", was written with short notes and in most places as an ordinary testimony; It clearly outlines the extent of the brutality committed in Dersim in 1938.
The plea in the diary, "O Lord, save me from here" was written by this diary writer, who was on the side of the perpetrator. Who knows how many times those who were murdered made that plea? The place where people are killed by being thrown into the water to avoid paying for bullets can also be a problem for the soldier who complains about not being able to drink water because the river is full of human corpses.
This book, which we published under the name "Dersim 1938 from a Soldier's Diary", is a first in that it publishes the atrocities that took place in Dersim in 1938 from the pen of a soldier.
