History of Bosnians Book Description Mustafa Imamović's book "History of Bosnians" is the first basic/reference work written by a Bosnian with scientific impartiality, describing all important periods of Bosnian history. The product of this in-depth research on Bosnia and Bosnians is more important not only for the information it contains, but also for what is not included, considering the conditions in which it was written, such as the "bloody Bosnia" narrative or the "Exotic East" definition that the West often likes to describe. The book differs in that it does not contain discourses of 'nationalist hatred' or 'ethnic cleansing programme' or any attempt against the right of one of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina to take part in the future of this country. In this book, Imamović defines three historical periods to reveal the history of Bosnians: the Feudal Bosnian State, the Ottoman Empire period, and the Modern Period, which started with the Austro-Hungarian occupation in 1878 and continues until today. There are numerous intermediate periods between these three periods. Despite the social, class renewal and intellectual diversity experienced by the Muslim-Bosnian people, the struggle to preserve this existence and their core cultural identity continues uninterruptedly, starting from the Siege of Vienna (1683-1699) until today. Imamović, who started writing the book when the Bosnian people were experiencing their most tragic moments, says that he sees the book as a debt to Bosnia and the Bosnian people.
