Dinler Tarihi
Religion is a sublime feeling that gives dynamism to people and keeps society and humanity alive. When human history is examined, it is seen that no community in the world lives without religion, and every nation has a religion and belief. The idea of religion was born with humans and will continue to exist as long as human beings exist. Wherever there is a human community, there is always a belief and opinion. Since pre-Christian times, no power has been able to prevent or destroy religion. On the contrary, those who tried to destroy it disappeared themselves after a while. Therefore, throughout history, religion has continued to exist as the strongest side of humankind and has guided the lives of people and societies.
Western researchers argue that the emergence of History of Religions as an independent branch of science is new. However, we know that studies have been carried out in the field of History of Religions in the Islamic world since the eighth century, such as Ibn Mukaffa, Said el-Feyyumi, İbnü'l-Kelbî, Muhammed b. el-Hüzeyl, Ebû Zeyd el-Belhî, Bâkillânî, Baghdadî, İbn Hazm, İsferâyînî, Birûnî are just a few of these names. Although there are many works written on the History of Religions in Turkey today, a significant part of them are works written in the style of Western scientists. In the definition and classification of religions and the origin of religions, Western methods are generally followed in Turkey, and most of the time, even the mistakes they made are repeated.
The book you have has been prepared in accordance with the curriculum of the Faculties of Theology, taking into account the above mentioned issues. Following issues such as the definition, nature and necessity of religion, religions other than Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Hanif religions, which we accept as divine religions, were discussed and examined according to continents, nations and regions, without being subjected to any classification. We hope that the book will be a resource that both students and those who are interested in the subject can benefit from.
