War Studies Handbook Book Description The cliché that war is as old as human history is often repeated. Whether this is true or false has been debated for the last 500 years. However, interestingly, it is quite new that war has become a subject of science. With the end of World War I and the establishment of the discipline of international relations, war became the subject of science. Another great war was World War II. Thanks to World War II, almost all existing academic disciplines, including science, began to examine war or at least deal with its side effects and destruction. However, the field of War Studies in Turkey has lagged behind the developments in the world. The most important purpose of preparing this book is to fill the gap in Turkish literature and to make a new start. “War Studies Handbook” is an introductory reference work. It aims to introduce the sub-disciplines related to war and military sciences together and in integrity. To present basic information and concepts to academics and general readers in a way that they can easily understand. In addition, it shows how important and complex war is and the importance of examining it scientifically. In the book, very important subjects such as military history, security studies, defense studies, intelligence studies, military sociology, military ethics, military operations research, the development of military thought, the role of media in war and war games are written by experts in the field. Known for his works on military history, Prof. Dr. The "War Studies Handbook" prepared under the editorship of Mesut Uyar will fill an important gap in the field and enable readers to examine the war scientifically.
