Cultural Heritage and Tourism in Diyarbakır and Its Surroundings

In the book, the reasons why Diyarbakır, which has a great potential in terms of cultural tourism, is not a brand city in cultural tourism, are investigated from a holistic geographical perspective. Scope of work; i) classification and spatial distribution of cultural elements in the thesis area, ii) revealing the spatial arrangements of cultural tourism subtypes, iii) in the part that is in the thesis but not included in the book, Diyarbakır is a prominent cultural tourism place despite its potential. It is aimed to identify the problems that prevent it from becoming a city and to offer solutions to these problems. In order to help develop the solution proposals in question, in the research (only in the thesis part), alternative cultural tourism routes were created by determining the existing routes of tour lines organized in Diyarbakır and its surroundings, the information and images of tour operators and travel agencies regarding the area were examined, and supply-demand analyzes were made.
