Laz; They are the oldest and indigenous people of the Eastern Black Sea and Southwestern Caucasus geography, which are today within the borders of Turkey and Georgia. Their closest relatives are the Megrelians. The Megrelians live in Georgia. Laz are Muslims, while Mingrelians are Orthodox Christians. Laz and Mingrelian are two close sister languages. The political institutional structures of the 20th century were very cruel towards Laz and Mingrelian in both Turkey, the Soviet Union and Georgia. These two sister languages were constantly prevented from becoming languages with books, schools and written literature. The political institutional structures of the 21st century are now forced to give importance to locality as a result of humanity's struggle for freedom and rights that has been going on for thousands of years. In this sense, there is no doubt that both Laz and its sister language Mingrelian will be institutionalized and carried into the future.
