Political Ideals
Political Ideals Book Description
"Political Ideals" was prepared as a lecture to be given to the public in 1917, while World War I was ongoing. The British Government bans the publication of this anti-war book. The book would not be published in Britain until 1963.
"Political Ideals" is one of Bertrand Russell's works in which he expresses his political philosophy most concisely. According to Russell, the task of politics is to enable individuals to use their creative powers. However, capitalist state apparatuses and companies do not leave any room for initiative to individuals. So a system in which employees participate in the management of businesses is best. Russell is committed to the ideals of socialism. Still, he does not shy away from drawing attention to the pitfalls of statist socialism.
"Political Ideals" is a manifesto to limit the centralized power structures and prevent destructive wars that plague humanity in modern times.
