With Schmitt Against Schmitt
As a constitutional lawyer, Schmitt's evaluation of law beyond what is legal and his idea that law is not just law have led him to contribute to numerous fields other than law. This study, written in an effort to evaluate the political crisis and the crisis produced by the stagnation of theory in the face of political crisis, takes into account Schmitt's identity and puts the need for a critical reading of Schmitt in contemporary political philosophy on its main axis. Seeking an answer to the question of whether a libertarian political realism is possible, Ertan Kardeş takes advantage of the opportunities offered by Schmitt's works while criticizing common political philosophies. Schmitt's; From Machiavelli to Hegel, from Marx to Sorel, he discusses his commonalities and contrasts with important thinkers. It examines many issues on a wide scale, such as the relationship between state and law, the problem of power, constitutional doctrine, state order, European public law, criticism of liberalism, and the opposition of legality and legitimacy, in the context of to what extent Schmitt's realism can be integrated with the problematic of freedom of political philosophy. The conceptual infrastructure provided by Schmitt and the expression of realism reproduced by the author make it possible to think with Schmitt and against Schmitt.
