Şino Maroşe - The Scream of Maraş
Şino Maroşe - The Scream of Maraş - Collective
As is known, in the past, folk poetry was not produced to be written, but to be sung. When it was written down by its creator or transmitter, it was saved from being lost, but if it was not written down, it was lost in the process. This painful situation of anonymous folk products, that is, folklore products, is due to the fact that these products have been constantly usurped and mortgaged by dominant/dominant cultures… Especially in an environment where written and oral Kurdish folk literature products are not allowed and oral products are not transformed into written literature; Turkish oral elegies and folk songs reflecting important Kurdish motifs are still of great importance. Because common values such as mountains, plateaus, springs, fields, forests, sheep and horse herds, as well as various objects specific to the region and various painful and tragic events that take place in the society, constitute the intellectual texture of these folk creations.
If the oral and written literature of the Kurds had not been banned, who knows how many more folk songs and laments that the Kurds sang about themselves and their neighbors would have survived to this day... Despite this, even today, a compilation made by cultivating the people's soil, who knows, how many more products will emerge?
