The East-West conflict has proven its importance in inter-societal relations and is the fundamental event that creates the unity and dynamism of world history. Differences between societies have emerged depending on the position and roles of societies in this conflict. It is impossible for societies not to become conscious of such a fundamental event that determines their existence. However, although they are in the same event, the parties give different values and meanings to the East-West conflict due to the different interests that arise in the solution. There are various explanations on this subject from past to present. Likewise, the effort to gain superiority in East-West relations causes the East-West conflict to take various forms throughout history. The reason why such great value is attributed to the event in question is that it provided important opportunities to the parties.

The fundamental turning points of Turkish society and history were determined by our place and role in the East-West conflict. Our social identity is shaped accordingly. It is not possible to remain indifferent or to escape the requirements of the attitude adopted in the face of such an important event that determines world history. It is possible to trace this within Turkish society and history. The relationship of Turks with Islam in Central Asia, their adventures in the Near East and the Turkification of Anatolia are events that occurred within the framework of the East-West conflict. Turkish people and Turkish society gained their privileged place and independent identity in the world within this fundamental event that shaped world history.
