Fathers and Sons

In the novel, the socio-political view of Russia in the last century is discussed. The father and son characters in the novel represent the increasing division between the two Russian generations, and Yevgeny Bazarov represents the "first Bolsheviks" with their nihilist views and opposition to the old order.

In the novel, where the conflict between tradition and individualism in Russia of the period is shown step by step, as the name suggests, the generation of fathers represents the unshakable moral belief of the patriarchal society; The sons represent the war of ignoring all customs.

Fathers and Sons can be considered as the first fully written modern novel in Russian Literature. It is also the first Russian literary work to gain fame in the western world.
