Karatas is a beautiful and poor village in Turkey. Kara Bayram is one of the poor people of this village. He lives in a one-room house inherited from his father, with his good-natured wife, three children, and his mother Irazca, who is the pillar of his house. Irazca is a troubled woman, she is old. But it is also toothy. As they burn themselves to death, one day their peace will disappear. Because Haceli, who is favored by Mukhtar Cimbildak Hüsnü, tries to build a house in front of their house. Of course, Irazca becomes erect; Red-hot apocalypse breaks out in the village... and the town. We haven't come across them...

With this novel, Fakir Baykurt tells about the small plans in the village, the opportunists who pursue these plans, their extensions in politics and bureaucracy, and the bright, beautiful people that those tyrants want to crush and destroy; In short, it once again touches upon "national issues". At the expense of being labeled as objectionable and being the focus of much debate and therefore hostility at the time...
