During the First World War, nearly a million Muslim people, mostly Kurds, living in the provinces of Erzurum, Bitlis and Van, covering 13 provinces with today's administrative structure, migrated and became refugees due to the Russian occupation. The Committee of Union and Progress Government of the time turned this migration into forced migration/deportation and sent migration convoys to Anatolia for the purpose of a secret policy and assimilation. In this death journey where great dramas occur. immigration conditions. According to official data, more than half of these migrants lost their lives due to hunger and epidemics. Some of them disappeared in Anatolia, and a few of them were able to return to their homeland after the war. In the years 1915-1917. Although this deportation, which took place mostly in 1916, was a great tragedy, it is unknown. The Kurds are politically weak, have no institutional structure, and lack internal and external support. Reasons such as having different religions with the Western imperialist powers and being involved in the Armenian Deportation that took place a year ago were effective in the Kurds being alone in this process and not knowing about this deportation. In this book, the effects of the First World War on the Kurds and the Great Kurdish Deportation of 1916, which took place as a result of the settlement and population engineering policies of the Union and Progress governments in this period, were researched through a large archive and supported and evaluated with some oral history narratives.
