Zamanın Kısa Tarihi
A Brief History of Time has gained the status of a masterpiece in the field of scientific literature in the years since its first publication in 1988. It has been translated into forty languages and has gone into print over nine million copies, gaining a huge international reputation. The book was written taking into account the latest information we had learned about the nature of the universe at that time, on the other hand, extraordinary advances have been made in the observation technologies of both the subatomic world and the universe on a large scale since then. These new observations confirmed many of the theoretical predictions made by Professor Hawking in the first edition of the book. These observations include the latest findings from the CoBE satellite, the Cosmic Background Explorer, which probed 300,000 years after the beginning of the universe and detected wrinkles in the fabric of spacetime that Hawking postulated to exist.
With the desire to add new information from his latest research and the latest observations to his original text, Hawking not only wrote a new foreword for the latest edition of his book, but also updated his book by writing a very impressive new chapter on wormholes and time travel.
“Vivid and provocative. Hawking has the gift of a natural teacher: he writes clearly, adds humor and gives examples from everyday life.”
– The New York Times
“Although he sits in a wheelchair, Hawking's mind reaches everywhere in the infinity of space and explains the mysteries of the universe.”
– Time
“A master's work.”
– The Wall Street Journal
