Isabel İçin Bir Mandala
A man is determined to find the woman he lost track of years ago... Polish poet Slowacki Wacklaw, aka Tadeus, whom he fell in love with in his youth and who lived under the Salazar dictatorship in Portugal. He wants to track down Isabel, who suddenly disappeared during the night. For this purpose, he creates a mandala with nine circles, in the center of which he places the woman he is looking for; Each circle will lead Tadeus to people who took part in a period of time in Isabel's life and can give information about her.
However, as the circles narrow and get closer to the center, the information obtained about Isabel begins to become increasingly unreal, with each circle. Together, Tabucchi draws us step by step into his imaginary cosmos: The author, who questions and intertwines time, existence, death, life and the boundaries that "determine" all of these in his novel, bends the linearity of time; flows events, places and people from concrete to abstract; It brings together the living and the dead in the same breath. Or is it the world of the dead, not the world of the living? Maybe, "Death is that bend in the road; dying is just not being seen."
