Bir Ayrılık
They weighed death and separation Fifty dirhams were too much for separation. Our ancestors say that whatever makes people happy and glad comes from reunion; whatever causes trouble, upsets, and drowns in sorrow comes from separation. A Separation corresponds to the second part of the sentence above. It carries the scent of a heart burned with separation. The sum of the crumbs that have fallen to the earth of Fahri's cry that hit the dome of the sky after Şeyhoğlu Yahya. A narrative where sometimes the imagination takes the floor and sometimes it borders on unreality. Fahri is a man who oscillates on the thin line between madness and sainthood. His life is an example of unrequited, expectation-free friendship that is about to be forgotten. This novel is the first book of Ahmed Sadreddin's Karac'oğlan trilogy. It is also the author's first book, his first novel. The novel is a collection of Fahri’s words of loneliness after he loses his friend. It is his longing for the good days they spent together, his cursing of the separation he experienced and his imprisonment in an apartment with Yahya, whom he makes live in his imagination and chat with as if he were in front of him. Here, he attributes a personality to each being and speaks to them all in a different language. This apartment becomes a halvetgah for Fahri and he follows Yahya’s traces here. He forgets himself, loses himself, becomes mortal in his friend and dies before he dies. A Separation is the story of two dervishes, one of whom is a sheikh’s son. It is the search for himself in the deep well into which a heart that cannot make sense of the modern world falls after the death of its friend. It is the narrative of escaping from the world and people, calming down and returning. The novel also includes comments on today’s social conditions and is an example of the joy of Sufism that seems impossible to experience in the century we live in.
