First, this book is written about the historical specificity of state and society in pre-modern Iran, a large neighboring country with centuries of political and economic relations and cultural exchanges with Turkey. Secondly, it is a book with a specific discursive project. Its theoretical formation, conceptual structure, and analytical methods are not only new but also go far beyond the original purpose of the study. In other words, what this book deserves to be published in Turkish is that it can be used as a theoretical model for the analysis of the state and agricultural economy in pre-capitalist societies in general. The theoretical formation and analytical method used in this book have their roots in the great political, cultural and philosophical developments of the twentieth century.
