It all begins in Chickentown, the most boring place in the world. Candy Quackenbush, who is looking for a clue about what will happen in the future, also lives there. As Candy travels from one fabulous place to another, she makes close friends and encounters dangerous enemies: mechanical insects, giant moths, supernatural cats and mud men, a murderous wizard and his terrified minion... And so Candy begins to realize something. He's been here before. Candy is in this extraordinary world for a reason: she will help save Abarat from the dark forces.
