Adıyaman in the 18th Century (Hısn-ı Mansur Behisni Gerger Kahta ve Samsat) Administrative Social and Economic History Book Description Adıyaman, which came under Ottoman rule during the reign of Yavuz Sultan Selim, is administratively affiliated with the Maraş Province. In the administrative structure within the Maraş Province, Hısnı Mansur district is included in the Maraş Sanjak; Behisni, Gerger, Kahta and Samsat districts are part of Malatya Sanjak. After each of these districts came under Ottoman rule, they lost their characteristics of being border castles and remained far from trade routes, causing them to lose their military and administrative importance. Among the districts in question, Behisni and Hısnı Mansur districts continue to be relatively important, but the fact that Hısnı Mansur district was an regiment and important administrators resided here, and Behisni district hosted the Rişvanzades, one of the powerful families of the region, caused both districts to develop, albeit partially, in the 18th century. contributed. In the 18th century, Adıyaman was a multicultural city where nomads, settlers, Muslims and Christians (Armenians, Assyrians) lived together. Within this multicultural structure, nomadic communities have a special place in Adıyaman. The fact that Adıyaman is a place where nomadic communities live densely and use it as a migration route has led to an increase in public order problems in Adıyaman. Although the state tried to take some measures for public order problems, it was not successful and the districts in question, especially the Hısnı Mansur district, became ruins as a result of the public order incidents and the indifference of the state.
