Analysis of Phobia in a Child
The illness and treatment story of a tiny patient told in the following pages is not actually based on my observations. I carried out the entire treatment plan and spoke with the child once face to face, but the child's father actually carried out the treatment, and I owe him a debt of gratitude for allowing me to publish his notes. What your father did doesn't end there. What I want to say is that no one can persuade a child to make such confessions other than his father. This analysis, which Freud wrote on childhood neurosis in 1909 and even conveyed in his own words, made a lot of noise at the time it was written and caused controversy from different perspectives. These discussions mostly focused on the fact that the poor child's innocence was taken away from him at that age. However, when Küçük Hans came as a 19-year-old young man in the spring of 1922 and found Freud, all these concerns were once again proven to be unfounded. Years later, Küçük Hans stated that he read this analysis as if it were someone else's story and that he grew up without any obsessions or problems. The Little Hans Case, along with the four other disease cases that Freud dealt with, has an important place in his work.
