  • When we talk about Iranian literature, only the "old ones" are mentioned: Mevlana, Hafez, Sadi, Nizami... The "new ones" are not well known. Maybe a little Furuğ Farrokhzad... But that's it! Our literary relationship with Iran is like "a broken film strip". However, on the literary front, there can be no justification for us turning towards the West and turning our backs on the East. We need versatility, not unidirectionality. Naturally, there are good poets in contemporary Iranian literature. Being satisfied with only great poets such as Mevlana, Hafez and Sadi does not mean being aware of Iranian literature. Then something needs to be done. It is necessary to make an effort to recognize and promote it. And this anthology is the product of such an effort... Nima Yusic was the starting point for the anthology. Because Yusic is the pioneer of contemporary Iranian poetry. Rather than Nazım, he is a poet equivalent to Ahmet Haşim, the real pioneer of contemporary Turkish poetry. Yusic is very similar to Haşim; But he has not turned his back on social problems like Haşim. Apart from Yusic, twelve other poets are included in this anthology. Although it does not extend to the post-Revolution period, you will find a good picture of contemporary Iranian poetry in this book. The poems were translated from Persian originals. In addition, at the end of each poem, it was stated from which source the poem was taken. As far as possible, each poet's opinion about poetry was tried to be conveyed from his own expressions. This is considered an innovation in the field of anthology. In addition, an effort was made to briefly introduce the poets about whom information could be collected.
