Çağdaş Dünyaların Antropolojisi
"According to today's paradox, every absence of meaning calls for understanding, just as every single formalization calls for difference. It is in this complex bundle of calls and answers that the anthropologist today finds new subjects of thought."
In our general opinion, anthropology is a branch of science that examines "primitive" societies and aims to analyze humanity from there. By examining "them" we could think of ourselves. But Marc Augé overlaps the field of anthropology with our planet as a whole. Because in this situation we live in, which the author defines as "supermodern" rather than postmodern, different worlds now share the same age.
Anthropology now approaches contemporary worlds, thus approaching the distinction between "other" and "self" and the problem of meaning from a brand new perspective, from the crowds of buses in big cities to the nooks and crannies of slums, in short, it comes very, very close to us.
