I was waiting for the bloody prince's warriors to burst out of the forest and attack. Not a leaf was moving, not a spear was shining, not an arrow was being shot where Merenptah should have been standing at attention. The crown prince's trumpet was blown again and again.
“Merenptah!” cried Sesostris then; His voice even drowned out the clashing of swords and screams.
"Merenptah! Why don't you come help me?"
When there was no answer, the brave Sesostris called out again in the midst of the noise, but this time his tone was full of pain and sorrow: "Merenptah! Are you selling your brother?"
As the troops protecting the crown prince grew smaller and smaller, Sesostris's deep voice rang out once more desperately: "Merenptah! Return my warriors to me, Merenptah! The crown is yours, the throne is yours!"
