Argonautika-Hasan Ali Yücel Klasikler - Ciltli Kitap
Apollonios of Rhodes (3rd century BC): Not enough information has survived to this day about the poet, who was also one of the respected linguists of his time. It is thought that he was born in Alexandria between 295-290 BC. He is a student of the famous poet Callimachus. Three poems about Ktiseis, Kanopos, and a few epigrams in verse, which tell the founding legends of some cities, are known only through references made by contemporaries. His most well-known work and the only work that has survived to the present day is the Argonautika epic, which details the legend of the "Golden Fleece and the Argonauts", which was very popular in the ancient world. This work, which is very successful in character analysis of its heroes and emotional scenes, contains the most lyrical and emotional lines of ancient literature. Translated into Latin by Varro Atacinus (82-35 BC), Argonautika also inspired Ovid and Vergilius.
