Armenian Diaspora

Armenian Diaspora thematically describes the life of Diaspora Armenians, their exile from one place to another, their longing for their homeland, the assurance of survival as a nation, their current and future. It is the first novel to describe.

In the novel, the daily life, social activities and traditions of Armenian citizens living in Istanbul are included in the humorous spoken language that Odyan developed by inheriting from Hagop Baronyan. The very first lines are full of signs of the route Odyan will follow in the work:

“I have made my decision, I will sell all the goods in my shop, I will sell both my houses, I will take my family and go to Armenia. I can make a living there anyway, even if I don't do a job it doesn't matter, the money I have is enough for me. Anyway, how many years of my life do I have left in this place?

(...) What are we doing here? That's enough. We say 'Goodbye' to the Daciks, we bow down, we are oppressed... My decision is final, I will go... There is no thesis from tomorrow, I will put the houses up for sale. I will sell the goods in the shop by the end of the month…”
