Aşk-ı Memnu - Cloth-bound Book Description Bihter, the young and beautiful daughter of Firdevs Hanım, from the family known as the Melih Bey team in Boğaziçi, is in a relationship with Adnan Bey, who is in his forties, having two children, with the desire to live a prosperous life and, partly, out of spite for her mother. gets married. However, Bihter, who cannot find what she is looking for in this marriage and believes that what is missing in her life is love, begins an affair with her husband's flirtatious nephew, Behlül. This forbidden love will lead to great unforeseen disasters in Adnan Bey's mansion. In Aşk-ı Memnu, which is considered one of Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil's most successful novels, the author analyzed the inner worlds and feelings of the heroes in detail. The novel, in which strong language is used and the outside world is depicted vividly and realistically, is seen as one of the realistic novels in Turkish literature. This novel by Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil was prepared for publication by Ceyda Yüksel, who is pursuing her doctorate. Its editor was Tülay Gençtürk Demircioğlu, a faculty member from Boğaziçi University, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. This edition of the work has been prepared for publication with the aim of being as appropriate to the language and spirit of the period as possible but also understandable for today's readers.
