Baglama Method / Baglama Method (2 Volumes)
Author : Arif Sağ, Erdal Erzincan
"Bağlama; with its different names, types and derivatives, has shown a multiple development in Anatolia, with the feature that it can be performed both with and without tezene (şelpe) in a wide geography extending from Asia to Europe.
In addition to this multiple development in performance styles, the fact that it incorporates different tuning styles called "order" has given this instrument a different identity.
This originality of the baglama, which was shaped within the traditional music culture in Anatolia, has been transferred to the present day, especially through the master-apprentice training within the minstrel music; Over time, with the urbanization process, it has also taken its place in the field of academic education.
However, the idea that the multiple development feature of baglama cannot be adequately reflected in the field of academic education has led us to prepare such a method. In this context, the studies we continued with individual efforts in different periods were combined and transformed into the act of writing "Bağlama Method" since 2000.
The idea that the elements that make up the originality of baglama should be preserved has been the basic principle of this unity. However, it should be noted here that it is impossible to comprehensively present all the originality of this instrument in a book. As a matter of fact, in addition to different performance styles in baglama, the existence of many order practices and the fact that these orders are performed with the logic of a separate instrument supports this idea.
In light of this information; We are starting the publication series with the "Bağlama Order Method", which we think is the most suitable order for performance techniques with and without agitation (şelpe).
This book includes traditional exercises related to the baglama pattern, new developments and exercises for the perception of personal works, as well as a distinguished repertoire that can reflect the subtleties of the pattern.
We would like to thank Mr. Yücel Paşmakçı, Mr. Abdi Coşkun, who contributed with their experiences to this study, which took place over a very long period of time, and Mr. Süleyman Şenel, who guided the study with his suggestions.
We hope that this book, which aims to improve the performance quality of baglama, will provide a basis for different studies and continue to be developed..."
