Türkiye'de Kürd Olmak
Being a Kurd in Turkey
It is surprising that some words and concepts, which are quite natural in the environment one lives in, create such fear and antipathy in Turkey and in people who claim to be Turkish. Because the book that records the name Kurdistan as the oldest is the "Arzı Ekrad" record on the map of Kaşgarlı Mahmut's Divan-ı Lügatı-Türk, which can be considered the holy book of the Turks. I think it was named Kurdistan Province by Sultan Sencer, who was also a Turkish commander before that. These uses have a history of nearly a thousand years. And in fact, the "thousand-year history of Kurds and Turks", which is used enthusiastically by the state officials, is also based here. Then, during the period of the Ottoman Sultans who proudly talked about being the sultans of Kurdistan, the Kurdistan Principalities and finally the Kurdistan State founded by Sultan Abdulmecit in 1852, and in the period until the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, millions of documents were recorded in every book, document, yearbook, census and title deed document on the subject. Why does a geographical name that is used more than once cause so much antipathy in people?
