
Being Sunni in Tunceli
This study tries to evaluate the Sunni communities, which are a minority among the dominant Alevi population living in Tunceli province, from an ethnological perspective within the framework of cultural identity and religion.
The work is the product of a 9-month anthropological field study.
The identity of Sunni communities with the national socio-political identity through their religious identity; The otherness that is gaining within the perceptions of Alevism and Kurdishness, which have gained otherness within the dominant socio-political identity, is discussed.
In the study, the identity-based existence strategies and relations with the environment of the Sunni communities in the recent past and today are analyzed comparatively.
