Bolsheviks in Power is the final book in Alexander Rabinowitch's trilogy, which is considered by many commentators to be the most comprehensive and successful examination of the 1917 Soviet Revolution. Rabinowitch, who conveyed the path to revolution and the moment of revolution in rich detail in the previous books of the trilogy, this time focuses on the first year of Soviet power, taking advantage of the new archives made available after 1991. In the book, the process of transforming a victorious revolution into a powerful state and "rebels into rulers"; Their steps back and moves forward, their feelings of victory and their fears of defeat, their alliances and dissociations, in short, are witnessed with all their enthusiasm and tension. The book, which describes the socialist government's struggle to survive in the First World War, hunger, unemployment and the feeling of being surrounded by counter-revolutionary conspiracies, also looks closely at the divisions between the "children of the revolution". The differences between the socialist parties of the period and the sharpening conflicts on topics such as peace, the participation of the working masses in politics, fundamental freedoms and the constitution are included in the scope of this analysis.

This book, together with the volumes of the trilogy, Towards Revolution and The Bolsheviks Come to Power, also published by Yordam Kitap, gives a new horizon to what happened in the first year of Soviet power by compiling a large number of data without turning them into a pile of documents and narrating them in a fluid fiction.
