While Charles Robert Darwin (1809 - 1882) was dreaming of spending his life in peace as "a country priest in the middle of nowhere" after successfully completing his theology education at Cambridge, under the influence of his curiosity in natural sciences since his childhood, he traveled around the world making measurements, making maps, making scientific studies, and making measurements. He participated in the expedition organized with the Beagle ship for the purpose of exploration and investigations. These years, which he spent collecting samples and making observations, taking an interest in the plants, animals, people and landforms he encountered in geographies unfamiliar to Europeans, would not only change his fate, but would also lay the foundations of a scientific approach that would transform the world.
However, Victorian England did not have the flexibility to allow contrary ideas. Darwin would continue his work by keeping his ideas and the notebooks in which he wrote them in code a secret for twenty years, in order not to be considered an infidel by the establishment led by the Church and the aristocracy. In fact, if he had not had a sense of truth as strong as his instinct of virtue, he would not have revealed his theory that he felt so uneasy that he compared it to "confessing to a murder", and perhaps he would not have published The Origin of Species. The theory of evolution is a theory that can explain the diversity and complexity of life, and as Darwin stated After years of debate, it was accepted first by the scientific community and then by the whole world that nature does its own job in its own way.
Although this rough white-bearded wise revolutionary of natural history received the first and greatest reaction from the Church, he was honored by being buried with state honors in Westminister Abbey, England's most prestigious church, to rest in eternal rest with the heroes of their field. Those who believe that human beings are too sublime a being to be considered to have evolved in the same processes as animals continue to oppose the theory of evolution, which strips humans of their divinity, with at least the same strength as during the Victorian period.
