Confessions
This work is the repentance of a thinker who grew up in the home of a pagan father and a devout Catholic mother and who searched for God from the age he knew himself, and who was finally startled by a voice he heard in his garden in Milan and discovered Him in his heart; It is the resurrection of a person who is destined to die, who described himself as a sinner in his life before finding God, and who was purified by confessing all his sins that crowded into his memory in his life after finding God, with all his helplessness in the face of immortality, and rising to the spiritual level.
This work is the silent scream of a restless soul struggling in the boiling cauldron of the world it fell into while searching for the truth, sometimes delving into the teachings of the Manichaeans, sometimes Cicero, sometimes Plato, sometimes the Skeptics, but unable to find healing for its anxieties in any of them. Unless this work, which is considered an autobiography of Augustine in his own language, is read and understood from beginning to end, any reading or study on Augustine, one of the most important figures of Christianity and Western philosophy, will remain incomplete.
