Günlük Notlar (1922-1925)
Monotonous life continues. The degree dropped to three and a half. It's snowing outside on Saturday 18th. It is permissible to say that it is raining even in the room. We went to the city and had dinner. We are looking for coal from door to door, bags in hand. Unbranded coal is not given, and since it is Saturday, the shops are closed in the afternoon. Anyway, Tevfik bought twelve pieces of coal from an acquaintance. We put it in the bag and went to the village. A heavy snow continues. We came to the village restaurant. We spent some time there. Our goal is to save coal for tomorrow.
“We are experiencing sad days again in Munich. I'm broke. I sit in an icy room and write for hours in this room at night, writing stories in German.
“Although the two articles I sent to two different newspapers were accepted and it was decided to receive a fee of fifty gold marks in return, we have not received any money yet, as the fee will only be paid after they are printed. The twenty marks I received from the article “A Hunt in Kurdistan” have already expired. "I had nothing but bread this evening."
