Dersim in Diyarbakır Yearbooks
The traces of the history of Dersim, which was annexed to different provinces and sanjaks in different periods after joining the Ottoman lands in the 16th century and had the status of a sanjak itself in certain periods, require searching not only within its own borders but also in neighboring geographies. It is known that the administrative, military and economic records of the Ottoman Empire's territory covering the Black Sea, Eastern, Southeastern and Central Anatolia regions of today's Turkey have parts from the history of Dersim. The records in the annual yearbooks of the Diyarbekir province of the Ottoman Empire for the period 1869-1876 included in this study constitute a small part of this fragmented and lost history of Dersim.
In the Diyarbakır Yearbooks, Dersim is included with its administrative management, military presence, real estate such as schools, mosques, churches, vineyards, gardens, pastures, and population numbers. In order to better understand these records regarding Dersim in the yearbooks, briefly summarizing the changes regarding the 1869-1876 period to which they belong and their related areas will allow a more holistic perspective.
