The great Greek poet Yorgo Seferis, born in Izmir, kept regular diaries starting from his youth. Seferis decided to publish some of these diaries, most of which were not published for special reasons, "those that were in the nature of poetry and literacy notes", towards the end of the 1960s. However, the political situation in Greece did not allow this. Yorgo Seferis sent the text he decided to publish abroad and unfortunately died before seeing the book version.

Diary of a Poet consists of the poet's daily notes, thoughts on poetry, and the past, who dreamed of getting away from the busy city life and overwhelming political debates; It consists of lines overflowing with love, especially for his childhood home of Izmir, peace, freedom and humanity. The book takes the reader into the emotional, private world of Seferis.
