Dictionary of Critical Feminism
"This work has an inherently epistemological purpose insofar as it methodically makes visible the gendering of the social and its effects. In fact, it seeks to arrive at a systematics for questioning the androcentrism that is effective in the representation of objects and the production of words, thoughts, and thought systems. This book does not represent any phenomenon. It hopes to enforce the idea that human relations could not have been shaped by impartial minds - even if these are phenomena as seemingly remote from relations between men and women as the transformation of economics into finance or of communication into informatics in general.
Feminist theory is a nomadic theory that transforms according to new uses and sometimes different disciplines as it travels from person to person and from one period to another. This book can be a guide to this journey, but it cannot replace the journey."
This dictionary, which deals with various concepts applied by feminist theory and politics, from sexual division of labor and gender relations to lesbianism, from sexuality to housework, from motherhood to employment, from prostitution to flexibility, will provide a basis for feminist discussions. The concepts covered in the dictionary are examined in short articles, both in terms of their history and their extensions in current politics. Therefore, the Critical Feminism Dictionary sheds light on feminist theory as well as feminist politics.
