Duino Laments
The most important part of the great poetic legacy of Rilke, one of the most important creators of the German language in the 20th century, is undoubtedly the famous Duino Elegies. Laments; It presents to our "listeners" the multi-layered uncertainties of human existence, the existence that seems impossible to bear, and the helplessness that never gives up hope, within a complex tragedy pattern specific to our age. Poems that weave the music of the "word", which is the only tool that will save human activity from "temporality" and make it "meaningful", with bare words, and are an extraordinary expression of the creator's desire to make his own life as well as the life of all human existence into poetry. In Rilke's own words, "a huge white canvas sail."
