In his stories, Fakir Baykurt deals with problems such as the harshness of village life, poverty, ignorance, bigotry, superstition and exploitation, and deals with the material and spiritual world of the villagers from a socialist and realistic perspective. Based on observations and live testimonies, the author occasionally uses a humorous language by bringing daily spoken language into the story; It strikingly depicts the "ordinary person", who is stuck between the wheels of bureaucracy but also harbors hope, together with the atmosphere of the place he lives in.

We present to the reader again the Duisburg Train, which was first published in 1982: "I do not find this answer correct. I am 18 years old. I have been in this country for fourteen years. I want to learn a profession..."
"I told you we don't have room..."
"But Polish Tamara was found before me! Didn't she have black hair too?"
Herr Walder paused for a moment. "Poland is different!" he said then. "The government wants flexibility towards people coming from Poland..."

Wherever it came from, somehow, a hope arose in him saying, "(Oh, keep going! You will get results today!)." He continued his conversation with the department head, Herr Walder: "You just said that my German is good, but German customers do not want black-haired barbers. I would like you to explain this point a little more before you send me back."

"Yes, your German is good. You can work as a barber. Because people working in this profession must be able to speak properly on every subject. The reason why black-haired people are not wanted is related to the xenophobia that has developed in recent years. We pay attention to public trends in order to guide career choices. The reaction to black-haired barbers and salesmen is increasing in Germany. .."
