The book presents examples of political communication research from Turkey, with articles published in different media organs written by Oya Tokgöz on elections, political campaigns, political advertisements, women's discourse of political parties between 1973 and 1999 in Turkey. Additionally, in the two articles written for this book, the Merve Kavakçi incident that took place in the Turkish Grand National Assembly in 1999 and the 2002-2007 general elections are evaluated in terms of elections, political campaigns and political advertisements.
Political communication, political communication research, elections, political ruptures, political parties, political campaigns, newspaper political advertisements, women's discourse in political advertisements, and democratization concepts are evaluated in the book. The position, role and importance of political communication research within communication research are among other issues that are open for discussion.
The work is the product of various political communication researches carried out by Oya Tokgöz, covering the last 35 years of Turkish political life, starting from the 1973 general election and including the 2007 general election - two field studies and text analyzes on newspaper political advertisements - as well as being a product of political communication in terms of political communication. It is also the product of the theoretical approaches it brings into discussion.
This book has been prepared to enable students studying at master's and doctoral levels, as well as scientists, to have an idea about political communication research and to become acquainted with the periodic approaches used in the world in terms of Anglo-American theory.
