A businessman realizes that the end of the novel he is reading tells him how to kill himself. A man who visits axolotls at an aquarium finds himself transformed into one of these animals. Another, who has a motorcycle accident, gradually loses consciousness and imagines that he has been sacrificed by a past civilization. The question that runs through all of their minds seems to be the same: What is real?
Cortázar is one of the names that ignited the fuse of the explosion that left its mark on late 20th century Latin American literature. Throughout his writing career, he returned to similar subjects, dreamed up new games and puzzles that asked similar questions in different ways, and added new details to this disconnected reality in each of his works. The End of the Game, which is included in Cortázar's Complete Stories, meets with readers for the first time in Turkish in its original form published in 1956.
