He was a faculty member and research director at the Center for International Studies (CERI) affiliated with the French National Political Science Foundation, president of the Eastern Mediterranean and Turkey-Iran World Studies Association (AFEMOTI), which he founded, and the founding editor of the CEMOTI journal published by this association. This book, designed by his friends for the memory of Semih Vaner after his death and as a gift to him, brings together the recent writings of his friends around the themes of Turkey-European Union relations, democracy and secularism, which are the focal points of Vaner's interest, in addition to the aim of remembering Vaner and passing him on to future generations. .
