Evliya Celebi and His Travels (Diyarbakir) - Yusuf Kaynak
In the 17th century, Diyarbakir was a province, not a province, it was governed by a Beylerbeyi, a governor appointed by the Ottomans, under the central authority. Evliya Çelebi also reveals the political and administrative structure of Diyarbakir at the time, or rather the functioning of the Ottoman central system. He tells this information briefly and concisely, and it is debatable how reliable the information is. The content of the travelogue and the historical understanding and writing methods of Ottoman historians are not the same as today's contemporary historical understandings. The historians of that time used more what they saw, heard and, to a lesser extent, sources.
