The State of Womanhood Book Description Juliet Mitchell's The State of Womanhood examines the political background and formation of the feminist movement from a historical and theoretical critical perspective; It analyzes male domination on four different grounds such as production, reproduction, sexuality and socialization and draws a detailed picture of patriarchy in action by focusing on the concept of family while offering the reader a new definition of feminism. In addition to comprehensively discussing the basic concepts that constitute the agenda of today's feminist movement, it invites the reader to think about the basic principles of feminist organization. This work of Juliet Mitchell, who strongly conveys the energy and enthusiasm of the feminist movement of the early seventies in every line, is the first book that six feminist women from Turkey (Gülseli, Gülnur, Şirin, Feraye, Şule, Yaprak) decided to translate collectively with a feminist perspective. It also has an importance. This translation process, which also aims to create its own feminist language and work according to feminist organization principles, constitutes a practical example of the feminist movement's understanding of collective work.
